Canada is deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Gaza. To assist those affected, Canada will offer transitional financial support to Palestinians who have left Gaza upon their arrival in Canada. This support will cover basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing while they settle into Canadian communities and seek employment. Additionally, Palestinians fleeing the conflict will have access to:
- Three months of temporary health coverage under the Interim Federal Health Program
- Settlement services, including language training, orientation to life in Canada, and job assistance
- Fee-exempt study or open work permits from within Canada
Though it is currently difficult for people to leave Gaza, Canada is preparing to have these supports ready when individuals can arrive.
