Canada announces the launch of the Canada–Finland Youth Mobility Agreement

Mar 5, 2024

Canada and Finland have activated the Canada–Finland Youth Mobility Agreement, allowing Canadians and Finns aged 18 to 35 to work and travel in each other’s countries through the International Experience Canada (IECProgram or its Finnish equivalent. This agreement, initiated by the Honorable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, marks the celebration of 77 years of formal diplomatic relations between the two nations. It aims to strengthen bilateral relations by fostering cultural exchange and providing opportunities for youth to develop life skills, enhance future job prospects, and deepen social ties. Additionally, it presents a unique opportunity for Indigenous youth in Canada to engage with the heritage and traditional knowledge of the Sámi people. Through investing in the potential of their youth, both Canada and Finland are contributing to a stronger and more interconnected global community.
