Canada is launching two new immigration pilots to support rural and Francophone minority communities facing labor and demographic challenges. Announced by Immigration Minister Marc Miller, the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP) will provide a pathway to permanent residence for skilled newcomers in 18 selected communities.
RCIP aims to address labor shortages in rural areas, while FCIP focuses on increasing the number of French-speaking immigrants outside Quebec to strengthen Francophone communities. Local economic development organizations will collaborate with the government to identify labor gaps, designate employers, and recommend candidates for permanent residence.
Participating communities span multiple provinces, including Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.
