The Canadian government has introduced temporary measures to help Indigenous people in the U.S. reunite with family members in Canada and reconnect with their traditional territories. These measures, announced by Immigration Minister Marc Miller, allow eligible Indigenous individuals to work or study in Canada with waived requirements and extend their stay for up to three years if already in the country. The initiative aims to ease hardships caused by the Canada-U.S. border while longer-term solutions are developed. Applications for these measures open on October 10, 2024, and must be submitted in advance. Please visit this dedicated web page for details on how the measures work, who is eligible for them and how to apply.
